2nd Round Draft Choice: Cody Brown - OLB/DE - UCONN - 6′2″ 244 lbs.
The Arizona Cardinals got their Brown from UCONN, Cody that is. Many draft boards had the Cardinals swooping in and taking Donald Brown - RB, but he was taken by the Indianapolis Colts with the 27th pick. But that’s history and personally about Donald Brown, he will probably be a fine player but Arizona is better off with this guy named Chris “Beanie” Wells. Let’s get back to the other Brown. Cody Brown might be called a tweener. For those not familiar with that term, it means not quite a defensive end and not quite a linebacker. Usually in a combination of size, speed and other things.
Maybe more so at the college level but I feel he fits more of the outside linebacker prototype. Fits the mold ideally on size, speed and range. You know, Rod Graves has really put together some nice drafts in the past few years and this draft is no exception. They had needs and most were addressed. Since the Cardinals have been steadily migrating to the 3-4 Defense or at least been using more and more 3-4 packages, it makes sense to add a player like Cody Brown. With some concerns about injuries and age starting to creep in at their current OLB positions, Cody Brown should bring a nasty pass rush from the outside.
