Early 1994 Quote from new head coach Buddy Ryan, “You’ve Got A Winner In Town”.
Prophetic? Hardly. Jugger-Not? More than accurately sums it up. There were boastful remarks all spring, proud proclamations about being in the play-offs and all the good rhetoric of a good sales pitch. But the fans of Arizona ate it all up, like crazy. Arizonans were no longer happy with just having an NFL franchise in town, they were hungry for a winner, a team to put them on the professional sports map. Only problem is they got the map but it turned into a dead end. This was supposed to be a new start, a fresh beginning for a franchise that had seen only mediocrity and criticism. They even changed their name to the Arizona Cardinals instead of Phoenix. The past was in the can.
